Quality Improvement Grants

Strong Start offers grants to improve the quality of early childhood care and education programs and facilities in San Miguel County.

The application period for 2019 is January 15th through February 15th. Award decisions will be made by March 1st.


What programs are eligible?

  • The program is located in San Miguel County;

  • The applicant program meets one of the following designations:

    • Is a licensed childcare and/or preschool provider in good standing with the Colorado Department of Human Services; OR   

    • Is a non-profit organization providing early childhood education programming and is in good standing with any and all overseeing agencies;

  • The childcare/preschool center accepts Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) or serves low income students through another state or federally funded program (ie: Special Education (SPED), Colorado Preschool Program (CPP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) OR, if an early childhood education program, has a commitment to serving all children, regardless of their socio-economic status, with a special commitment to serving low-income and/or at risk families with children birth to 5; and

  • The childcare center is rated level two or higher in Colorado Shines OR using these funds to pursue a level two or higher rating.
