Capacity Building Grants

Strong Start provides grants to allow child care and preschools to build capacity. Capacity building is defined in Strong Start programming as: “increasing the number of children that childcare providers can serve at one time.”

The application period for the 2019 granting cycle will begin on January 15th and end on February 15th, with funds disbursed by March 1st.


Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a capacity building grant, programs must meet the following requirements:

  • The program is located in San Miguel County;

  • The applicant is a licensed childcare and/or preschool provider in good standing with the Colorado Department of Human Services;

  • The childcare center accepts Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) or serves low income students through another state or federally funded program (ie: Special Education (SPED), Colorado Preschool Program (CPP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); and

  • The childcare center is rated level two or higher in Colorado Shines OR using these funds to pursue a level two or higher rating.
